Could it be…?

Published by emmortality at 2:03 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Yes…blogging for money. Exactly what I’ve wanted to do since I was “invited” into the once-exclusive livejournaling community. This hopefully won’t be a flop… worries do arise- what if I’m too boring, too pretentious, too…unreadable? What then, B.A in English?? What if I end up on the streets as a failed freelance writer, occasionally spouting essays about dumpster diving and the horrors of dysentery?

I’m leaving for Taiwan tomorrow. Everyone oohs in envy when I tell them…the verbal display being obligatory and all. I don’t think “terribly excited” is the word choice I’d use though. I’ve given thought to the pros and cons of going back-

Pros for Taiwan include relatives, night markets and food stalls (the greatest fixtures of Taiwan…yumm, fermented rotting tofu…) Cons include relatives (communication will be a problem, my Chinese gets worse every year…I ‘m now only fluent in a retarded 5th grader sense) and food stalls. I_always_gain weight in Taiwan, 5 pounds is practically inevitable. And I’m going to be there for 3 weeks… *shudder* I swear, if you don’t gain weight, you must not have any sense of smell.

Cons also include leaving my boyfriend for 3 weeks… this is cold turkey, we’ve not spent a day apart since…March? No communication will be hard. And I don’t just mean “no-communication-with beloved-counterpart” (I’m sure your first thought dear reader, is “go cry me a river”) I mean, no communication with_anyone_with a grasp of the English language. My most learned relatives can manage a strangled “Zis ess ah book”

So while I’m crying for communication with the outside world, I will drown my sorrows in Today.com, Taiwanese KFC and Hemingway.

Good night =)
